Death Summary: In the battle of Trafalgar against the French fleet he was wounded in the lung by a bullet. He died a few hours later, after the battle ended.
Who was Horatio Nelson: Lord Nelson entered the British navy as a midshipman and reached the rank of admiral. In different encounters he lost both an arm and an eye. In 1805 he commanded the British fleet at Trafalgar the naval battle which established British supremacy of the seas, where he was killed. His body was taken back to England, preserved in a barrel of brandy, for a state funeral.
He fought many actions in the Napoleonic wars, and is considered the most important british seaman in history.
