Mitch Frerotte
Born: 1965-03-30 - Died: 2008-06-11Cause of Death: Heart Attack
Death Summary: Mitch Frerotte (real name: Paul Mitchael Frerotte) fell victim to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which the American Heart Association claims to be the most common cause of sudden death in young athletes. This ultimately led to his massive heart attack. He was at his mother's house in Kittanning, Pennsylvania when it occurred. Paramedics took him to Armstrong County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Who was Mitch Frerotte: Frerotte was a guard in the NFL, spending his four-year career with the Buffalo Bills in which time he managed to play in three Super Bowls - XXV, XXVI, and XXVII.
Aside from this amazing accomplishment in his short career, he also set an offensive lineman record for scoring three touchdowns in a single season.
He was the cousin of NFL quarterback Gus Frerotte, and a big Harley-Davidson enthusiast. He apparently once threatened NFL quarterback Joe Theismann with bodily harm for getting on his bike. It is unclear if this was before or after Theismann's career-ending injury by the hands of Lawrence Taylor.
