Death Summary: She suffered 2 heart attacks, in 1983 and 1989, and was fitted with a pacemaker. She was further weakened from pneumonia and malaria. In 1996 she had heart surgery, but didn’t recover properly.
She died 9 days after her 87th birthday in India.

Who was Mother Teresa: She was born in albania and decided at an early age to be a nun. In 1950 she received the churches permission to form an order, the “Missionaries of Charity”. The orders mission was to help the sick, poor and those no one wanted, including lepers and the dying. The first mission was in India, in Calcutta.
As time went by the order opened other homes all around the world. She was awarded many medals and prizes for her work, including the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.
