Death Summary: After being elected President of Argentina for his third term, in 1973 Peron at age 78 grew progressively weaker until his heart gave out, possibly due to the stress due to his duties.
Who was Juan Domingo Peron: General and President of Argentina. Peron entered the military school at age 16 and progresses through the ranks of the argentine army, until as Colonel he participated in military coups from 1943 on. In 1946, with the support of labour unions, he was elected president of Argentina. Reelected in 1952 he was deposed by a revolution in 1955 and lived in exile in various countries, finally in Spain, until his return and reelection in 1973 as president.
He married Eva Duarte, known as "Evita", in 1945, a charismatic woman who was influential in his rise to power.
From 1955 to 1973 he lived in exile, until in that year he returned triumphantly as president (third term) of Argentina, where he died in office the next year.
