Death Summary: At the age of 24, while recovering from a football injury at his home in Palmetto Bay, Florida, Sean Taylor was shot in the leg by an intruder while his girlfriend hid with his 18-month old daughter under the bedding.

The blood loss led to brain damage and a coma, until he died at the hospital.

Five suspects were charged in the murder.

Who was Sean Taylor: Sean Michael Maurice Taylor was a safety for the Washington Redskins. He also played for the university of Miami Hurricanes, who got to a national championship with him.

He played in the NFL from 2004 to 2007 - the year he was killed. In that time, he had been in a bit of trouble, getting arrested for a DUI in 2004, and allegedly present at or possibly involved in an armed assault in 2005.
