Ed Gein
Born: 1906-08-27 - Died: 1984-07-26Cause of Death: Cancer
Death Summary: Gein did not receive a death as talked about as the death he surrounded himself with.
He died at the Mendota Mental Health Institute in Madison, Wisconsin as a result of respiratory and heart failure in relation to cancer.
Over the years, Gein's tombstone was vandalized repeatedly, and chunks of it were broken off and stolen. Eventually the entire thing was stolen, but in 2001, it was found all the way in Seattle and shipped back to Wisconsin where it now resides in a museum.
Who was Ed Gein: Edward Theodore Gein, commonly known as the Plainfield Ghoul, was one of the most famous (or infamous more appropriately) serial killers in American history.
He did not have the numbers of many of his peers, but his actions inspired more elements of pop culture than probably any other killer.
He inspired horror movie villains Leatherface, Norman Bates (a character brought to the screen by Alfred Hitchcock and played by the late Anthony Perkins), Buffalo Bill from Silence of the lambs, and Ezra from the movie Deranged, which probably told Gein's story more accurately than any of the others. There have even been at least two more direct bio pics about him.
He also inspired a number of songs by different bands such as Slayer (who also wrote one about killer Jeffrey Dahmer), The Misfits (who also had songs about Vampira, Marilyn Monroe, and John and Jackie Kennedy), Blind Melon, and Mudvayne.
Gein was known to have dug up corpses and use their parts as home furnishings and skin masks for himself.
He had lampshades and chair upholstery made of human skin, skulls mounted on bed posts, and a variety of other grotesque ornaments even nastier.

You have to be one of the sickest people ever. Wow. Glad I never got to meet you. You were how can I put it twisted and we will never understand individuals like you.
I grew up in Wisconsin and remember camp counselors scaring the crap out of me, with stories of how you were still lurking in the woods, waiting to pop out and slice my throat. I’m sure glad you’re dead!
