This is after surviving brain surgery with no anesthesia (instead, she bit down on a bullet).

Who was Harriet Tubman: Harriet Tubman (born Araminta Ross) made 13 trips using the Underground Railroad to save over 70 slaves after escaping captivity during the Civil War.

She was born into slavery and suffered a head wound as a result of being beaten as a child, a wound that would plague her even into her later years. She eventually escaped, and when the Civil War started, she worked for the Union Army as a spy.
