Death Summary: After enjoying the longest retirement of any former president, Herbert Hoover eventually died from massive internal hemorrhaging, bleeding from the upper gastrointestinal tract, and a strained vascular system.

He was 90 years old when he passed, and he was buried at the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum in West Branch, Iowa.

Who was Herbert Hoover: Herbert Hoover was the 31st President of the United States and held office from 1929 to 1933. He took over after Calvin Coolidge (whom he held the title of Secretary of Commerce under) and was replaced by Franklin D. Roosevelt.

He had also been the Secretary of Commerce under Warren Harding. Hoover, a republican, beat out Democrat Al Smith for the Presidency.

Interestingly enough, the Great Depression began the same year he became president and is considered to have played a factor in him not being re-elected.
