Born: 1932-04-12 - Died: 1996-11-30Cause of Death: Heart Attack
Death Summary: Herbert Khaury (a.k.a. Tiny Tim) suffered a heart attack in September of 1996 and was hospitalized for three weeks, and urged to slow down his performances.
He continued to play, despite the doctor’s warnings, while playing his signature song, “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”, Tim suffered a second heart attack and was rushed of the stage with his wife by his side.
She asked if he was okay, Tim replied “No, I’m not!”… this would be his last words. He was rushed to the Hennepin County Medical Center, where doctors worked for over an hour trying to resuscitate him.
Tim is interred in the mausoleum of Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Who was Tiny Tim: Tim is best known playing the ukulele and his odd rendition of “Tiptoe Through the Tulips”.
Many considered Tim just a novelty act, though many of his records displayed a wide knowledge of various song styles. This is probably due to his “musical education” when he was a child, he would lock himself in his room and listen to various artists for hours on end.
He was invited to appear on the 1968 Beatles Christmas album, which was exclusively for the fan club. George Harrison appreciated the camp appeal of Tim.
